In the highly competitive FMCG landscape, field sales visits are critical touch points — not just for order collection, but for maintaining customer relationships and tracking competitor presence. However, our client faced a persistent challenge: sales reps would occasionally skip scheduled outlets, leading to missed sales opportunities and unreliable data from the field. There was no effective way to verify whether a rep had actually visited a store or collected any ground-level insights.
To solve this, we built an intelligent visit verification automation that leverages image metadata and location comparison to validate store visits. The core workflow uses ClickUp for task management, Airtable as the data source, and MiniExtensions to extract GPS coordinates (Latitude & Longitude) from uploaded store photos. The automation then compares this actual photo location against the pre-stored outlet coordinates in Airtable. If there’s a mismatch or deviation, the system flags the entry — enabling the sales head to take corrective action.
This automation didn't just enforce accountability — it gave the business new visibility into real-time execution and helped build a reliable foundation for market intelligence.
